We brought in the new year on 4 hours of sleep and waking up at 2pm, followed by a fun little trip down to Moana for a dip in the ocean. After a 10 minute hike through the suburbs only to find that Barnacle Bills had no more fish, we decided it was probably time to head home and rummage up a make-shift Barbecue at 10:30pm, but not before a quick McDonalds drive thru to keep us going (hence the melted ice cream).

We started the day with lunch at Hot & Spicy Kitchen. Hotpot: the good shit. Amelia and I wanted to venture somewhere we haven't been, but didn't want to hike through the hills, so we found a little Mangrove trail in Salisbury that happened to be next to a salt collection lake and some yachts. We did our short little venture through St Kilda Mangrove Trail before making yet another McDonalds trip with ice cream that was even more melted than before.

Summer time means burning your feet on. Australia's hotplate sand. A 20 minute train ride led us to Grange beach for a wade in the water and a sunburn on my scalp because I forgot to wear a hat (rookie mistake). A yummy box of fish and chips later and it was homeward bound.

Considering I spent the last 3 days in my house watching Netflix, I decided I should take a stroll in the outside world. My mission: to find native flowers to photograph for my mother to put up in her house. Where better to go than the Botanic Gardens because where else in this metropolitan world would you find a collection of Native flowers?
I think I was rather successful.
Mr Kookaburra thinks so too.
